Learn More About Us
Central Virginia Justice Initiative fights human trafficking.
We work within Planning District 16 in Virginia. This includes Spotsylvania, Stafford, Fredericksburg, King George and Caroline County.
We rely on trained and screened volunteers.
FOR SURVIVORS
We provide trauma informed support and case management.
Many of the people we work with are survivors of commercial sex trafficking.
Most are referred by other community organizations or law enforcement.
Some contact us directly. Some are incarcerated.
Many need housing and other basics. Many have no support system. The greatest need is safe and affordable housing.
We try to provide for their needs through referrals, community resources and partnerships with other agencies.
Some want to get into a short term or long term program specifically for trafficking survivors.
Some want to find a program that will help them overcome their substance or alcohol use. We do the leg work involved in these kinds of placement.
FOR OUR COMMUNITY
We provide prevention education to schools, churches and youth organizations.
We provide training to community organizations, volunteers and professionals who need to be able to recognize the red flags of someone who is being trafficked and know how to respond and/or refer that person to get help.
We participate in community events. We sponsor awareness events.
We are a member of Planning District 16 Human Trafficking Task Force which is working at identifying and closing gaps in the local and regional systems so that victims and survivors of human trafficking can get the assistance they need.
We are advisors to the Virginia Coalition against Human Trafficking which is working to change legislation for the benefit of trafficking survivors.
